Who are we?

Jas-and-RichRichard Stannard and Jas Thorpe have evolved OpenWaterSwim.co.uk into the Triathlon Training Centre. Richard, one of the founders of OpenWaterSwim.co.uk, helped shape outdoor swimming over the last ten years, including running open water swimming venues at Datchet and more recently at Little Marlow. 2016 sees an exciting move to the fantastic weed-free waters of Bray Lake to allow Richard and Jas to focus their energies on delivering quality coached swim sessions for all levels, from complete novice to elite athlete.

Richard, a professional triathlete for nearly 20 years and former swimmer at Loughborough University, has won 7 world titles during his career. He continues to compete at the top level into his forties and still leads elite races out of the water all over the globe. In addition to his achievements as an athlete, Richard is a dedicated successful coach, assisting athletes at all levels of the sport reach their goals.

Jas, a two time ironman finisher, managed that feat while working as a finance lawyer in the city! Having qualified as a level 2 BTF Triathlon Coach, Jas splits her time between the city and the Triathlon Training Centre, assisting in coaching many of our swim, bike and run sessions. Jas is also your go-to-person for wetsuit advice whether you are looking for an off-the-peg wetsuit such as a Zoggs or Zone3 or if you are looking for a bespoke custom-fit wetsuit from Snugg Wetsuits. Jas can provide advice regarding fitting and we have a range of hire suits for use during our coached sessions.
